Brief
Smart Material Houses mark a new generation in housing design. Their distinctive feature is the intelligent use of functional and adaptive technologies, materials and construction forms. The goal is to develop buildings that integrate an optimised eco-efficiency. For example, each building should react in an efficient way to local and global environmental changes. Moreover, smart materials and technologies produced locally should contribute to optimise the flows of energy and material supplies. Last but not least, the Smart Material Houses provide an opportunity to develop a new building aesthetics.
